IPTV covers the likes of Joost and Channel 4 on demand and is all about the rights to broadcast and the technology to do it with. In a nutshell it is a system where a digital television service is delivered using Internet Protocol.
Free from Ofcom’s TV broadcaster regulations (as it requires neither license nor in broadcast transmitters) - businesses are considering how IPTV can benefit them. IPTV services puts greater control in the hands and remotes of the consumer, allowing them a vast array of content to be viewed as it suits them.
Like the music industry before it, this raises question over media ownership and copyright and, as ever, will it generate the advertising revenues required to fund it - and keep it's quality?
