The Showreel is Dead, Long Live the Showreel.

In the golden age of the traditional advertising world, the showreel was King - and why not? The vast majority of creative was either beautifully shot TV ads or slick press images, all of which looked wonderful when cut to perfection and set to a suitable score.

Those days however, have gone. In fact, in the digital market place you could argue they never existed in the first place.

The reason digital has proved such a revolution is that it has empowered the consumer and created a true two-way conversation. It’s about the consumer interacting with brands how they want to and when they want to, not on the brand’s terms. A beautifully captured video screen grab of a cursor clicking through a site, or a few posed examples of people using an experimental mobile application may look impressive - but what does it tell you about how they really performed, what they were really like to use or how original they really were?
